MGIA Gold Award

Category:  Residential Landscape Construction $100,000-$250,000

This home is an entertaining dream.  The grand front paver entry welcomes people to the home.  Ledgerock walls are both functional as retaining walls and aesthetically pleasing helping anchor the landscape. A variety of plant material creates four season interest. Purple flowering Siberian Iris welcome spring, pink Roses are bright throughout summer when Dragon’s Blood Sedum and the tropical looking Hibiscus Perennial transition the landscape from summer to fall.  Three multi-stem River Birch show a fantastic yellow fall color and evergreen Boxwood and blue Juniper shrubs provide winter interest. The backyard features a pool (installed by another contractor) surrounded by an expansive paver pool deck. The dining area features an outdoor kitchen complete with grill, granite countertops and a composite pergola architectural feature. A fire pit and seating wall complement the entertainment spaces. Boulders were utilized to retain the grade, evergreen trees installed for privacy and deciduous trees installed in the woodland to replenish those lost during construction. The party can continue into the night thanks to low voltage LED landscape lighting and backyard views can be enjoyed from the composite deck.

MGIA Silver Award

Category:  Residential Landscape Reconstruction $25,000-$50,000

This landscape was in need of updating.  Rock bed cover, failing retaining wall, shrubs, and the existing paver patio and walkway were removed. Boulders were installed to replace the existing manufactured retaining wall. A variety of plant material including Coralbells, Brunnera, Astilbe, Drift Rose, Japanese Forest Grass and Pachysandra were mixed with existing shrubs to provide varied bloom times, foliage contrast and texture to the landscape.   The new patio utilized a tumbled paver with contrasting soldier course and bullnose step coping. The former patio and walkway layout were reshaped creating a larger ground level patio to accommodate the homeowners outdoor furniture and easier backyard access.
