Ice melting products....  

There's so many on the market.   Blended de-icers are quite common and economical.  Their effectiveness depends on what they're comprised of and their primary chemical ingredient.  Calcium chloride remains the most effective chemical to fight ice in the lowest temps.  Peladow, coming direct from Dow Chemical, is in pellet form rather than flake, which adds to it's effectiveness.  See below for some additional information to help you make your choice.

Peladow 50# 

Small, white pellets.  Fastest-acting deicer at all temperatures.  Will work down to -25 degrees F.  Leaves no powdery residue, unless overused.  If used as directed, will not harm vegetation.

 TigerMelt 50#

Blended wih Potassium Chloride and Sodium Chloride, Tigermelt works quickly and more effectively than straight rock salt.  Leaves no powdery residue, unless overused.   If used as directed, will not harm vegetation.

Rock Salt 50#

Straight Sodium Chloride - no blend
